The Muses whisper in our ears. They stoke the fires of inspiration as we talk about our art projects and plans.
The Muses terrify me. Although, when they call I want to go with them.
…then a funny thing happens when I’m busy doing the mundane. My mind starts percolating. It starts working ideas around. Coalescing my thoughts into projects.

Early inspirations for my encaustic pieces had gotten fairly dark — weaving into some pretty disturbing dreams with images and feelings that were tough to shake.
…the final "resplendor-esque" piece was named 'Tears of Epione', for the Greek Goddess of the soothing of pain. It is a creation completely different from the dark place I had started — something peaceful, delicate, tactile, even magical..

I have the coolest friends. I don't mean to boast....That's a filthy lie, I am absolutely boastful about my close comrades. Anyone who spends time with me hears me chirp about the interesting things my friends are doing, making, organizing, singing, listening to, and playing with. I trot, wind, and bustle about social media scouting for the creative loin fruits of my tribe and community.

It's on! Using all the tools.. Computer graphics know-how, custom-cut plexiglass, toggle switches, handcut stencils, LEDs, and weathered machine parts. It's all on the table -- now to get it all done on deadline!
Although I'm exploring a vintage-inspired interpretation in encaustic, the theme calls for precision, symmetry, playfulness and bold colors -- the polar opposite of my usual abstract work.

I have been creating hair pieces, dolls, jewelry, assemblage, and collage pieces with mediums like Polymer clay, resin, fabric, mache', felt, metal, hair and more since 2010. Photography, although not entirely new to me, is newer to me as a freeform artistic expression.

..it occurred to me it would be lovely to work on a collaborative project in photography and encaustic - even plan a first-ever exhibition. Knowing I'd have some down-time with my shoulder injury, I hit "send" on a text to Jonquil asking if she might be interested. It felt sort of like "hey, will you go out with me?"

With ~90 miles between us, as we had been meeting every other month in various locations to support each other’s vision and stay on task.
…the space housed some 20 paintings & illustrations, 5 elaborate headdresses, 30 photos, hanging and free-standing print & magnet displays, t-shirt table, 15 encaustic panels, 4 encaustic sculptures (one assembled on site), food & wine, and performance space for live music and dance.
